I’m going to take a break from books and writing to give a shout-out to all the dads out there. Happy Father’s Day! I hope you have all enjoyed your day!
Unfortunately, I didn’t get to spend my day with my dad. We live in different states, but at least I got to meet-up with him and my mom yesterday for lunch. I guess, technically, we celebrated a day early!
I hope that most of us can relate tales of how our fathers have helped us or the things they’ve done for us. I’m happy to say that I can.
I’m very lucky in that my father and I get along well and share a lot of the same traits. Growing up, he held a stressful job and worked all kinds of crazy hours. Once he retired, we had a chance to grow much closer. He’s the purveyor of wisdom and advice on all things car- and home-related. He’s the teacher, and the one to tell it as it is—no sugar coating for dad!
While I could drone on and on, I’ll end with a verse from “Only Dad,” a poem by Edgar Albert Guest. You can find the entire piece here.
