Still is an m-m romance story, which is written by Mary Calmes. Although I’ve only read a couple of her stories, I’m a huge fan. It is so easy to fall in love with her characters.
This read is not the typical m-m read. She gives us a couple of flashbacks as to how Siv and Walter met, and how Walter’s life changed drastically in a matter of minutes. The bulk of the story focuses on how Siv has asked Walter for a divorce and how both of the guys are dealing with it after being together for 17 years.
I really liked both Siv and Walter – the opening scene was great! Siv was the more expressive of the two while Walter was more steadfast. I also liked Walter’s oldest child, Chloe. She was wise beyond her years – not afraid to speak her mind either!
I don’t want to spoil the ending, but I definitely liked it. I would have enjoyed another flashback to see how Siv fit in with helping to raise Walter’s children. I feel like that interaction would have given the reader a better feeling of the two men. As it is now, I feel like the author tells us here and there things from their past rather than showing it.
Overall, a unique, enjoyable read. 4 out of 5 stars
