Darker After Midnight

I finished it – oh my goodness, I couldn’t put it down! Now I am chastising myself for taking so long to read it. The book should have been on the top of the TBR pile.

Before I get too beside myself, Darker After Midnight is book number ten in the Midnight Breed series by Lara Adrian. This is Sterling Chase’s book – aka Harvard.

Ok, so I must confess that Harvard was not my favorite character in the Order. Perhaps that is why my copy of the book was gathering dust. Definitely a Lucan and Dante fan, but Harvard – not so much. This book completely changed my opinion of him. From his initial self-sacrifice to give the Order time to evacuate their Boston mansion to taking Tavia under his wing when she discovers her unique genetic make-up to battling bloodlust mostly by himself, Chase showed incredible strength of character and loyalty. His devotion and love for Tavia outshone just about everything else.

While the Midnight Breed books might have started in a similar vein as J.R. Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood, they have taken on a life of their own with compelling characters who risk life and limb for society and for the ones they love. The warriors and their Breedmates will worm their way into your hearts, especially now that sons are being born and now that Dragos, the very well done villian in the series, got what has been coming to him for several books now!

5 out of 5 stars!

  1. I have to totally agree with you … Except Hunter became one of my Favorite Breed after his character slow integration in the group. Can’t wait for the next book. Great review Thx
