Hot Head

Wow! I’ve found a M-M must read. I read it in a day – couldn’t put it down. The book in question is Hot Head by Damon Suede. I didn’t even have to think – it earned 5 stars from me.

As you can tell from the delicious cover, the book is about two NYC fire fighters who are best friends and who both happen to be in love with the other one (of course this doesn’t come out until 2/3 of the way through the book).

I immediately fell in love with Griff. A muscle bound Scot with bright red hair and a very humble attitude. He figures out pretty quickly that he wants his best friend, Dante, in a more-than-friends way. However, he is unwilling to risk ruining the friendship. Dante, an Italian ladies man, talks his friend into doing porn to help him keep his house. Griff isn’t really into it but agrees. Well, what happens between them is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!

What is even better than the steamy porn scene where they do “extras, cross some lines” to get extra money is their first kiss, which happens at the firehouse. Then, the first time they make love (on Dante’s leather sofa), confessing how the other feels and realizing they are both on the same page, wow. Just freaking wow.

This book was very detailed. The firehouse lept off the page. The personalities of the other fire fighters were so realistic. The fright that Griff feels when he confesses to Alec – they left the page and burrowed into my heart. And maybe the best feeling in the whole book: when a healing Tommy (paramedic, also gay) walks into the Pipe Room (gay bar) and is welcomed with warmth and love by complete strangers. Plus, I just had to laugh when Sticky/ Stuart greeted Griff with the call of “Farm boy!” Oh, and I think Griff had his kilt on…so hot!!

If you’re an m-m fan and you haven’t read this book, you need to move it to the top of your TBR. Right now. Seriously.
